Lymm v Titans

Taunton made 5 changes from the squad that beat Camborne last week as they made their furthest trip up to Cheshire on an overcast cold afternoon, writes Hugh Duder. Securing2 points.

Lymm scored from the kick off, catching the Titans off guard 7-0. On ten minutes from a resulting penalty, Isaac Dalton went over after a drive and maul. 7-7. Lymm scored their second try after poor defense 12-7.  The hosts then lost their lineout and some good handling sent Oscar Kolowski over after sprinting down the touchline. Tom Putt adding the extras giving Titans the lead after 14 minutes. 2 tries in five minutes, the first when the ref. allowed play to carry on, leaving Titans flatfooted. Lymm leading 22-14 at half time.

Five minutes into the second half, Tom Bradner got an unconverted try 22-19. From a Titans drop out full back Morris dropped a goal from 35 metres 25-19.  With 65 minutes on the clock Titans went forward with determination, 19-year-old Ben Rogers getting a well earned converted try 25-26. On 71 minutes Lymm re-took the lead moving the ball from side to side for 32-26.

And then nightmare for Titans as the Lymm centre intercepted a pass on ½ way and the hosts now lead 39-26.  Back came Taunton with Ewan Guy who started the game replacing the injured ‘Toots’ Vakalutikali scoring his first try for Titans converted by Tom Putt 39-33.

This was another game for Taunton when fine margins made the difference. A week’s break this week the 29th November then sees Titans play 3 consecutive games in December.  The first against new boys Syston on December 6th at home at the Summerfield Stadium 3pm kick off.
