Titans Report - The Season so far

As soon as the fixtures came out back in the summer, it was clear to see that it was going to be a tough start for the Titans. In our first five games, not only did we have three of last seasons top four teams, the fixtures also did us no favours having five of our first eight games away from home leaving only three at Veritas Park.

We also had to deal with a lot of change in the squad over the summer, with a number of players moving on or stepping down due to the level of commitment required at Nat One level.

Players Out

Lewis Webb - Stepped down due to his work commitments of being a head teacher.

Aron Struminski - Retired

Harry Tarling - Moved to Championship side Hartpury

Dan Swain - Moved to London with his partner and joined Rams

James Keay - Moved to London with his partner and joined Rosslyn Park

Jack Walsh - Moved on from Chiefs and is now playing at Ospreys

Hallam Chapman - Is on trial and doing very well at London Irish

Players In

Will Vaughn - Former Taunton youth player returned from Bath

Jordan Gott - 10/15 from the Navy

Jay Toogood - 9 from the Navy

Sam Knott - 4/5 Dorset

Wayne Sprangle - Plymouth Albion

Jordan Petherbridge - Returned from Barnstable

Michael Owen - Joined us after a season in Canada

With a tough start and a number of new faces we worked hard over pre season to put ourselves in a position to be competitive, and improve on last season. With bonus point wins away against Leeds, Esher and Hull and points picked up against Sale away, we currently sit in 9th position. Despite the losses we’ve been quite pleased with some of our performances, with the exception of Chinnor, which has to rank as one of our worst for a number of seasons, which we were made aware of on the final whistle, but to bounce back last Saturday with a good performance and win away at Hull was just great.

Behind the scenes we’re all working unbelievably hard to improve week on week, the commitment from the players never wavers and we’re all fighting hard to give our supporters and sponsors a team it can get behind and be proud of.

Injury news

Over the next couple of games we look forward to the return from injury of Sam Prior and Toots who have been noticeable absentees over the last few weeks. Jermaine Jones should return to full training in the next three weeks after breaking his thumb in his return game. Charlie Williams will be out for the foreseeable future with an on going ankle injury. As always on behalf of the players and coaching staff, I’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who supports us week in week out, what we do on the field we really couldn’t do without your support. Lastly with a tough run into Xmas, we’d love to see as many of you as possible down at Veritas Park making noise and getting behind the boys as we look build on last last weeks win away at Hull.
