Taunton Titans face one of their toughest challenges of the season this weekend as they make the long trip to Cornwall to take on league leaders Camborne, with kick off scheduled for 14:30.
Camborne have been the standout performers in the league throughout the campaign and currently sit top of the table with an impressive record of 19 wins from their 21 matches, accumulating 94 league points along the way. Their consistency and attacking threat have made them the team to beat this season, and they will be keen to strengthen their position at the top as the run-in towards the end of the season approaches.
However, the Titans will take confidence from the fact that one of Camborne’s two defeats this season came earlier in the campaign at Summerfield Stadium. On that occasion, Taunton edged a thrilling encounter, coming away with a narrow 30–29 victory in what proved to be one of the most exciting fixtures of the season so far. The Titans will be hoping they can replicate that performance as they head to Cornwall this weekend.
Camborne come into the match after a break week last weekend, giving them time to reset following their second defeat of the season the week prior when they were beaten by Hornets. With the home side eager to bounce back and return to winning ways in front of their supporters, the Titans will know they are facing a motivated opponent.
Taunton currently sit fourth in the league with 67 points and remain firmly in the hunt near the top end of the table. With only a handful of fixtures remaining this season, every point becomes increasingly important and the Titans will be targeting another strong performance on the road.
Last weekend the Titans were finally able to return to action against Hinckley after two previous postponements had disrupted their recent schedule. In a high-scoring contest, Taunton were ultimately defeated 47–33 but showed plenty of attacking quality throughout the match. Importantly, the Titans crossed for four tries to secure a valuable bonus point, ensuring they still added to their league tally despite the result.
The performance demonstrated the side’s attacking capabilities and resilience, and they will be looking to build on that as they prepare to face the league leaders. Travelling to Camborne is never an easy task, but the Titans will take confidence from their previous meeting this season and will be aiming to produce another competitive display.
