Match Preview: Taunton Titans vs Cinderford – Saturday, Summerfield Stadium

The Taunton Titans return to Summerfield Stadium this weekend for another big National League 2 West encounter, as they welcome Cinderford in what promises to be a tightly contested and physical affair.

Both sides come into the fixture in good form. The Titans produced one of the standout results of the season last weekend, showing tremendous character to score two tries in the final three minutes and secure a dramatic 31–24 away victory over Barnstaple. The result was all the more impressive given Barnstaple had not lost at home for two years, underlining the belief and resilience within the Taunton squad.

Cinderford were also convincing in their most recent outing, recording a strong 29–7 home win over Hornets. Their physicality and defensive organisation have been hallmarks of their performances this season, and they will arrive in Taunton full of confidence.

With just two points separating the two sides in the league table — and the Titans holding a game in hand — this fixture carries added significance as the season moves into a crucial phase.

Saturday will also be a special occasion for the club, as Taunton stalwart Ratu Vakalutukali is set to make his 200th appearance in Titans colours. A huge milestone and a testament to his commitment, consistency, and contribution to the club over many seasons — one that the Summerfield Stadium crowd will be proud to celebrate.

For Taunton, the challenge will be to build on last weekend’s momentum and make home advantage count. Summerfield Stadium has been the scene of some strong performances this season, and the squad will be looking to bring intensity, accuracy, and discipline from the first whistle against a physical Cinderford side.

We are delighted to welcome Citadel Financial as our matchday sponsors for this fixture and JMT Plastering as our match ball sponsors. Their support is hugely appreciated by everyone at Taunton Rugby Club.

Elsewhere This Weekend

The Taunton Warriors are also back in action on Saturday as they travel away to face Old Bristolians, following a strong result against Gordano last weekend. The side will be looking to build on that performance and continue their positive momentum.

Post-Match Entertainment

Following the final whistle, we invite everyone to stay and join us for our Party with the President, featuring a 90s-themed disco — the perfect way to round off a big day of rugby at the club.

With form, pride, and league position all on the line — and a landmark appearance to celebrate — it promises to be a memorable afternoon and evening at Summerfield Stadium.
