Titans look to make it three from three

The Taunton Titans return to National 2 West action this Saturday as they make the short trip to Topsham Rugby Club to take on Exeter University, with kick-off at 3pm.

The Titans head into the fixture full of confidence after making a perfect start to the new campaign, recording two wins from their opening two games.

After an impressive 53-17 victory over Devonport Services at a packed Summerfield Stadium on the opening weekend, Taunton followed it up with another strong performance on the road, defeating Barnstaple 24-12 to make it back-to-back victories.

The win at Barnstaple was an important result for the Titans, showing that the side can grind out results away from home as well as produce the attacking rugby that was on display in their opening fixture.

With a number of new faces settling into the squad, the opening two matches have provided plenty of encouragement, while the Titans will be looking to continue building momentum as the season progresses.

EXETER SEARCHING FOR FIRST WIN

Standing in Taunton's way this weekend is an Exeter University side still searching for their first victory of the campaign.

Exeter opened their National 2 West season against Barnstaple, suffering a 53-24 defeat, before facing another tough challenge last weekend.

They will be determined to put their opening results behind them and use home advantage at Topsham to get their season up and running.

The Titans will therefore be expecting a competitive contest, particularly from a side with plenty to prove in front of their home supporters.

THREE FROM THREE?

For Taunton, Saturday represents another opportunity to continue what has been an excellent opening to the season.

Two wins from two has put the Titans among the early pace-setters in National 2 West, but with a long campaign ahead, the focus will be on taking each fixture as it comes.

The trip to Exeter will provide another test of the squad's consistency. Having scored 77 points across their opening two matches, while conceding just 29, the Titans have demonstrated their ability to both attack with intent and defend strongly when required.
