The Taunton Titans are back in action this weekend as they make the trip to North Devon to face Barnstaple in National League 2 West, with an earlier 14:00 kick-off on Saturday.
After last weekend’s scheduled fixture away at Hinckley was postponed due to a frozen pitch, the Titans will be eager to get back on the field and regain match rhythm. The squad have continued to work hard behind the scenes and will be keen to put that preparation into practice against one of the league’s in-form sides.
Barnstaple come into the game sitting 3rd in the table on 52 points, having enjoyed a strong campaign so far. Although they fell to a 41–24 defeat away to Hornets last weekend, they remain a dangerous and well-drilled outfit, particularly on home soil where they pride themselves on physicality and tempo.
Taunton currently sit 9th on 42 points, but with a game in hand, the Titans know there is plenty still to play for as the season moves into its latter stages. With the league table tightly packed, a positive result on the road could quickly close the gap and build momentum heading into the next block of fixtures.
For the Titans, the focus will be on starting strongly, matching Barnstaple’s intensity, and being clinical when opportunities arise. Discipline and control will be key in what is always a tough test at Pottington Road, but the squad will travel with belief in their ability to compete with anyone in the division.
When Barnstaple visited Taunton in September they came out 34-41 victors and the Titans will want to settle the score this weekend!
With an early kick-off and a competitive contest in store, it promises to be another big afternoon of rugby.
Safe travels to all those making the journey. For those who are wanting to stay local the Warriors will be in action at Summerfield Stadium where they face Gordano and looking to right the 20-19 loss last weekend to local rivals Bridgwater.
Come on you Titans!
