Exciting Coaching Update for the Taunton Titans

As we look ahead to the new season, we’re delighted to confirm the Titans coaching group. Once again, the team will be led by our long-standing Head Coach Tony Yapp, whose experience and dedication have been central to the club’s progress. He will continue to be supported by Gary Kingdom, who remains as Assistant Coach and Skills/Backs Coach.

Joining them, we’re thrilled to welcome three familiar faces who have each played a big part in the Taunton story:

• Charlie Williams – After being forced to step away from playing last season through injury, Charlie will stay very much involved with the club as an Assistant Coach, supporting the group on matchdays.
• Ratu Vakalutukali – Our club captain and stalwart will not only continue to lead from the field, but will also step into a coaching role, contributing during training weeks and in team selection alongside the coaching staff.
• Elvis Taione – A hugely experienced player, Elvis will now combine his playing duties with a focus on scrum coaching, bringing his expertise to the forward pack.

Club Chairman John Wrelton shared his thoughts:

“I am so happy and feel genuine pride that current and former players want to stay and become part of our onward journey by taking roles in the coaching squad. The knowledge and leadership that all three of our ‘new’ coaches bring is second to none. Here’s to our next chapter at Taunton RFC.”

Club President Neil Symons also added:

“I am delighted that ‘Toots’ and ‘Vis’ have stepped up to coaching positions for the coming season. ‘Toots’ is Taunton Rugby Club – his constant high standards and work ethic will carry on into this role. ‘Vis’ brings a wealth of knowledge and experience which the players will benefit from. And it’s fantastic to see Charlie staying involved after his playing career was cut short; his passion for the club and his support on matchdays will be invaluable. They are all held in very high esteem from everyone at the club, and we wish them the very best.”

This blend of continuity and fresh energy ensures the Titans’ coaching setup is stronger than ever. With Tony and Gary’s leadership, combined with the insight and passion of Charlie, Ratu, and Elvis, the future looks very exciting for the team and the club.
