TRFC Golf Day

Taunton RFC hosted a golf day on Friday 6th August which was well attended by local businesses and friends of Taunton RFC as well as current and past players. A big thanks goes to ‘The real shaving co’ for the support of the Taunton RFC golf day by donating a gift for every player on the day. The golf day raised vital funds to support Taunton RFC after what has been a difficult 18 months.

The golf day took place at Vivary park golf club and a huge thanks must go to Eddie Cullen who helped with a great deal of the organization and arranged the after-golf BBQ for all the players. Another big thank you to Vivary golf for booking out the course on a Friday afternoon for us to use.

With the weather threatening all day the heavens opened 15 mins prior to the golfers heading out onto the course. Fortunately, the weather cleared, and we were treated to a dry afternoon for everyone to enjoy the course which was in great condition.

We enjoyed a wide range of golf from low single figure handicaps to first time golfers all of which had a great day and the Texas scramble format kept everyone invested in the day. We had longest drive competitions and closest to the pin on hole 9and hole 18. With a scramble start this meant that all the players returned to the club house at a similar time.

It was great catching up with everyone over a few drinks and a BBQ and hearing about the rounds and peoples ‘Shot of the day’. After the BBQ it was time to announce the winners of the golf day, the results were as followed.
