Friend's Objectives

Taunton Friends (“the Friends”) are a group of people made up of Taunton RFC members, Taunton RFC former players or any other person who wish to provide support to the Club.

The support will primarily be focussed upon ensuring that the Club has the best opportunity to play rugby of the highest quality possible and at the highest level possible for the benefit of players, the Club Members and the local community as a whole.

The friends will endeavour to do this by providing support as follows:

Through the donation of gifts of cash or goods which will directly benefit the playing of senior rugby in the Club

Through providing from amongst the members a source of knowledge and expertise on a wide range of subjects which the Club Management may call upon as required

In addition, the Friends may support specific objectives or initiatives of the Club that are designed to enhance the Club’s image and reputation.

In 2010/11 the Friends committed themselves to contributing £12,500 to senior rugby, a goal of which we achieved with some credit by eventually handing over £18,500 to the parent club. 

Over the initial 4 years we are proud to be able to state that we have donated IRO £40k towards Senior Rugby at Taunton, an achievement for which we thank all of our contributors most sincerely and for their continued loyal support.

In 2006/07 we started with a commitment by 20 individuals and today, at the commencement of the 2011/12 season, we stand as a group of some 60+ Friends who will be pledging a sum of £15k for senior rugby at Taunton, a target, with our member's loyal support and goodwill will once again be achieved.

Initially, the funds raised will greatly assist with the costs associated with some members of the current 1stXV squad, who, for differing reasons, have to travel some distance to Taunton to train & play.
