Taunton Friends (aka 'The Friends') are a wonderfully generous group of people comprised of Taunton RFC members, former players, and other individuals who wish to provide support to our great club.

The support provided by The Friends is primarily focused upon ensuring that the club has the best opportunity to play rugby of the highest quality possible, at the highest level possible, for the benefit of players, club Members, and the local community as a whole.

The Friends endeavour to do this by providing support as follows:

• Through the donation of gifts of cash or goods which will directly benefit the playing of senior rugby at the club
• Through providing from amongst the members a source of knowledge and expertise on a wide range of subjects which the club management may call upon as required
• In addition, The Friends may support specific objectives or initiatives of the club that are designed to enhance it's image, reputation, and/or marketability

In 2006/07 The Friends were formed with an initial commitment by twenty individuals. Today, at the halfway point of the 2011/12 season, The Friends stand as a group of some 60 plus members who will be pledging a sum of £15k for senior rugby at Taunton. This target, with our member's loyal support and goodwill, will once again be achieved.

In 2010/11 The Friends committed to contributing £12,500 to senior rugby, a goal which was achieved with some credit by eventually handing over £18,500 to the parent club. Over the initial four years of operation, The Friends are proud to be able to state that they have donated approximately £40k towards Senior Rugby at Taunton Rugby Football Club, an extremely impressive and generous achievement for which the club wishes to thank all of our contributors most sincerely and for their continuing loyal support.

The funds raised will greatly assist with the costs associated with some members of the current 1st XV squad who, for differing reasons, have to travel some distance to Taunton to train and play. Funds are also made available for equipment and other essential rugby related items or services.

The Friends also gather regularly throughout the season at our TRFC Friends Luncheons, to socialise and enjoy the spectacle of our 1st XV competing in national league rugby.
