Last match at Priory Park
After 65 years at Priory Park, Taunton play their last fixture there on Saturday 12th May 2001 at 3p.m.
Fittingly, it should be a grand occasion, as it will be a play off match for the 2nd place teams from Western Counties North (Taunton) and Western Counties West (Withycombe), for promotion up into South West Two WestÂ
Both teams have arrived at this stage with an available extra promotional place to play for. Taunton gains the home advantage due to the number of league points attained during the season. The top 2 teams in the respective leagues, Cleve and Crediton automatically go up into South West Two West.
A big crowd is envisaged for this fixture and it will certainly be with mixed emotions that the curtain comes down on this great rugby ground. A win in this match would see a well deserved end to a memorable season under new coach Jeff Davies who has already stated his intention to carry on.
