Rugby today is a fast paced and physical game played at the top level by beasts of men at an intensity that cannot truly be understood by those not involved. Athletes pull on the shirt and take to the field to do battle with a ferocity that is not for the feint of heart. The game has certainly moved on.

After a stuttering start to 2012 Taunton’s new year swung back on track in style with victory over Barnes. This Saturday the young side must raise their game again as they make a substantial away trip to Hertford.

Taunton’s fast-moving week continues today with the confirmation that player Pierre Tucker has been released from his contract with the club.

Back in September the 2nd XV management team of Eddie Cooper, Russell Gibson, and Mark Hawkes speculated that it would probably be January before the United would be in a stronger position regarding players, structure, and the manner in which they played.

In a communication to the club on Monday 23rd January Colin Gould confirmed his resignation from the management committee.
